Reputation modes
How far DNS Daddy will go to consult a provider.
- Off
The provider is not consulted. Nothing about a query leaves the resolver.
- Cache only
DNS Daddy uses previously cached provider verdicts and never waits on the external service while answering a query.
- Blocking
DNS Daddy may briefly wait for the provider, up to a configured timeout budget, before answering.
A provider failure, timeout or open circuit breaker resolves to Unknown — never to malicious. Unknown never blocks a lookup on its own.
Verdicts
What a provider can say about a domain.

| Benign | The provider has no adverse information. |
| Suspicious | Weak adverse signal. Corroborate before acting. |
| Malicious | The provider asserts the domain is harmful. |
| Unknown | No verdict available — including every timeout, error and open circuit breaker. Unknown never blocks. |
